Jane, the young house maid is hiding a secret that could lose her her job and reputation. The widow of Robert’s brother is an unknown quantity; is she who she appears to be? Sarah, the other housemaid, knows many secrets of the house and uses them all to her advantage. Evocative, full of twists and turns, this novel kept me guessing to the end; a real page turner!
