iPhone App for Downloading Audiobooks

OverDrive has an app for your iPhone so you can download free audiobooks from New Hampshire Downloadable Books anywhere you have wifi access. You won't need to connect to a computer! They also have apps for Windows Mobile, Android and Blackberry.

I can't wait to try this out on my iPod Touch!

  1. Have you had any success? Downloaded this on my phone last night, enjoyed what has to be the worst app experience I've come across and then couldn't get anything but WMA files, even when the book showed as iPod-compatible.

  2. I haven't tried it but the Circ Librarian did and she agrees with you. It does only work for WMA files. I hope they put out an improved version quickly!

  3. Circ Librarian says only MP3 works, WMA would not. She got it to work after 45 minutes and 3 book titles!

  4. How do you pull the mp3 version? The titles I tried both had the iPod button lit up, but served the WMA. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I'm also sure it's completely non-intuitive.

    Thanks for following up.

  5. Even though both WMA and MP3s are listed as being iPod compatable, you must make sure the title you chose offers the MP3 format. Not all of them do. You can click on the New MP3 Audiobooks section on NH Downloadable books for a selection of titles.
