I just finished Lisette's List by Susan Vreeland and just loved it. I have enjoyed her others books such as Girl in Hyacinth Blue, Luncheon at the Boating Party and Clara and Mr. Tiffany. This novel is a bit different in that it doesn't focus on one artist, but looks at several paintings that are owned by one of the characters. The artists include Pissaro, Picasso, Cezanne, and Chagall. Here is the jacket description of the book:
"A young Parisian woman is exiled to Provence to take care of her
husband's ailing grandfather during the Vichy regime, but discovers that
despite the horrors of war, the paintings of Cezanne, Pissaro, Chagall,
and Picasso bring to life the landscape around her and allow her once
again to experience love."
