These have been tumultuous times for the Library. Not only have we been forced to shut our doors but we have also had two library retirements.
You have probably seen in the newspaper that Cathy Beaudoin, our progressive Library Director, has retired. Cathy kept the library on the cutting edge, overseeing a large addition on the historic Carnegie building, transitioning from a paper card catalog to an online version, and allowing staff to start new collections of DVDs, and music CDs, as well as offering online magazines, books, audiobooks, music and movies. . She loved trying new ideas, whether it was relocating collections or starting a passport program. Cathy was always willing to let the staff try new things and the Library and all it services are a reflection of her passionate leadership.
Sue Vincent has worked at the library for 22 years. Many of you first met Miss Sue in the Children's room. She put on a terrific story hour and the kids loved her. She later moved over into the Interlibrary Loan department where she efficiently located and borrowed books from all over the country for our readers. We will miss Sue's wry sense of humor and easy going ways but we are delighted that she will be able to spend many happy hours tending her garden.
Happy retirement Cathy and Sue!
