The Friends of the Dover Public Library have existed since
1977, organized to help promote and enhance library resources. For over 40
years, the group has advocated for the Library and raised money for library
equipment, furnishings, programs, summer reading prizes, and museum pass
purchases. The Friends' efforts supplement the library's annual budget and
consequently, we are able to bring renowned authors, talented entertainers, and
fun children's performers to the Dover Public Library on a regular basis.
Currently, the Friends primary fundraiser is the annual library booksale, which
runs for two weeks in October/November.
We know that many of you support the Friends through annual
membership dues, but the group of active participants has dwindled in recent
years, largely due to health reasons. Our long-time Chair recently passed away,
and our Treasurer will retire after a lengthy stint in her role. Frankly, we've
not had a recruitment drive in years, but now is the time! We need new Friends!
Please come to the next Friends' meeting on Tuesday, September
10 at 6:30pm. We need your input and involvement to inspire fresh new
ideas, to encourage participation, to lead new sub-committees, to serve as officers,
and to amplify the influence of the Friends of the Dover Public Library.
Meetings are just five times a year: on the 2nd Tuesday of September,
November, January, March, and May.
Even if you're unable to attend meetings or participate
actively, we still urge you to join as an "inactive member" or renew
your existing Friends' membership ASAP! Right now it's just
$7 per year for seniors (62+);
$10 for individuals;
$100 for a Lifetime Membership, but the annual dues will
increase in mid-September 2019 to $10 for seniors; $15 for individuals; $30 for
sponsors; and $200 for a Lifetime Membership. So do it now! Here's the link to
the application: https://bit.ly/2YFGM50

your donations are tax deductible.) If you have any questions about what
Friends do or how you could help, please contact me: c.beaudoin@dover.nh.gov

Thank you for reading this important appeal! We love our
patrons and know that our Friends group can only strengthen with your
assistance! We'd love to see many of you on September 10, 2019 in the Lecture
Hall at the Library.
