Upcoming Change to How Patrons Receive Books on Hold
Items will no longer be automatically checked out to patons' digital accounts. Instead, the user will receive an email OR Libby app notification on their reading device (phone, tablet) about the available hold.
Users will have two (2) days to take action on that hold. The action can either be:
- Manually checking out the hold within two (2) days.
- Deliver it later -- Allowing the patron to assign a suspension period while maintaining their old on the waiting list.
If no action is taken by the patron, there is a one-time courtesy hold suspension of seven (7) days.
If no action is taken the second time, the hold will be cancelled for
that patron and the item will move to the next person waiting for the
title.
We will continue to share information as we learn more about the new feature from the vendor.
