Find out what tune rose to popularity
again after nearly 100 years; how “God Bless America” and “This Land is Your
Land” are related; and what favorite old American song got its songwriter
released from prisons---twice!
A retired professor, Richard accompanies
himself on acoustic instruments including guitar, 5-string banjo, and baritone
ukulele. A member of the New England Foundation for the Arts, Richard studied
American folk and gospel music and, through his performances, enjoys telling
the “rest of the story” underlying historic and cherished American songs from
many decades. His relaxed, comfortable, and casual style establishes a
wonderful rapport with his audience.
