Kids!
Are you ready for a summer full of fun and games? “On Your
Mark, Get Set, Read!”, the Children’s Summer Reading Program at the Dover
Public Library, begins on Tuesday, June 21. From 2pm to 4pm that day, we’ll
kick-off with a Summer Celebration. Register for the program during this time
and enjoy crafts, food, and visitors from Holy Rosary Credit Union and Texas Roadhouse.
Everyone who attends will also be entered into a raffle for a special prize.
Don’t worry, if you can’t make it to this event you can sign-up anytime during
the six- week program.
When kids entering grades K-6 sign-up, they will choose
which team they would like to be on: Bruins, Celtics, Patriots, or Red Sox. Throughout
the summer, check the scoreboard in the Children’s Room to see which team is
reading the most minutes. Which one of our beloved New England teams will
prevail?
Preschoolers are encouraged to register for the “1000 Books Before
Kindergarten” program and complete a summer reading activity sheet. Not only
will participants enjoy some great books, audiobooks, and ebooks, they will
also have the opportunity to earn prizes.
We also have lots of special events planned throughout the
program.

should kids be the only ones excited about Summer Reading Programs? If you want
to be eligible for prizes, be sure to fill out a review slip, either online through
our website under “Summer Reading/Adult”, or in person at the library. This
will be your entry to win weekly prizes. We’ll compile the list of what
everyone has read and share it anonymously so you can discover some new titles
for your to-read list! The theme this year emphasizes fitness and wellness. The
program starts June 21 and runs through August 2. Grand Prize will be a new
Fitbit Flex!*
* Must read
at least 5 books (and fill our review slip for each) to be eligible for Grand
