We see many things used as bookmarks when people return their library books; photos, mail, religious cards, even a check or two. We have heard for years about the legend of the bacon bookmark but fortunately we have never had a library book come back with a slab of bacon in it. I was amused to see that a "battle of bad bookmarks" was actually held. I am happy to see tissues on the list, I would also add its close cousin, toilet paper. Very disturbing to see those used as bookmarks, even though they have been clean ones. What is the worst bookmark you have seen?
By the way, the Library has many free bookmarks so you do not need to use more unusual items to mark your page.

What a waste of edible bacon that would be...
ReplyDeleteI collect bookmarks. However strangely I don't really use the bookmarks I collect. I have a handful of very old faded torn library bookmarks that I use over and over again, while keeping my beautiful collection tucked away in a drawer.
Hey! Somebody told me about the bacon there once and believed that it was at Dover! I've been telling that story for YEARS! Now I'm a big liar! I'm so ashamed!
